Blog #3 English........Question 1

Since this is a blog and not a test I want to focus my blog on the second part of the question.  “Is impossible for a writer to convincingly violate his own conscience {the substance of truth} in his fiction?”  I really disagree with the statement completely.  I will acknowledge before I got on my rant about this that I am the farthest thing from a writer and I know very little about literature, so I say this with an ignorant view.  In order to make the statement that a writer can’t violate his own conscience I think is ridiculous.  Does Mr. Card know every writer personally and knows his core values of what that writer believes in or what  he deems to be truth.
I would say one of the most basic truths in life is that it is wrong to kill someone.  So is it ok to kill in times of war or if someone breaks into your house?  Asking different people these questions you will get different answers.  Now, I believe that it is in those situations, yet my religious beliefs tell me that I shall not kill period; it is ok for me to kill.  Therefore what is truth?  I believe I could write on both sides of the argument because I understand both sides.  This will be my most ignorant statement of all because I do not practice the art of reading or writing but I would guess that there are way too many talented people in the world that some of them couldn’t convince you that they believe one way but write about a different way.
In the business world, is there not a profession that is solely dependent on going against their own basic truths?  Lawyers are paid to convince people that everything can be justified.  With the right justification cant truth be changed?  I think it’s a rough statement to make when you are talking in absolutes and to make the statement it’s impossible to violate your own conscious, I just don’t agree with that.  One quick example.  Hitler, did he violate his own conscious.  One would guess that he didn’t think he did, but really how could he of not known.  I think it’s better to just say anyone in the right or wrong situation it is possible to do anything.  390

  1. My question is the difference between murder or just simply killing. To take a life is wrong or to maliciously take a life? Can you make a difference?
