It seems like my taste and smell are attached to the same feelings in my head. Ketchup is the great evil in my life. As soon as I smell that vinegary tangy retched red stuff my gag reflex starts to kick in. I guess that bad part about it is that when I taste it, it tastes exactly how it smells to me. It is a bit weird though because I love marinara and also my favorite potato chip is a tangy Carolina barbeque chip made by lays. It has the vinegary tangy taste but made the salt off sets it enough that I like it. I have always hated the taste and smell of ketchup. I ordered my cheeseburgers plain and a lot of times they would forget and put ketchup on them. I would send them back and of course since I was a kid they figured they could just brush them off and resend it back to me. Even the trace amount of smell of that ketchup I could pick up on and could not bring myself to eating it. My kids when they eat French fries like ketchup I try to position myself on the other side of the table from the kid that is going to have ketchup with their meal. I stylize the experience like on the old Bugs Bunny cartoons when something smell it made the form of a smoke like hand that slowly danced around the room until it found its victim sitting in a chair and relaxing. With a slap that smell hits me and slowly my stomach starts to turn. The hatred is so bad and the smell has such an effect that if it touches my skin my noise will remember or something cause I will smell it for hours after. I have to wash my hands multiple times after contact just to get rid of the stench. Do you know how hard it is to go through this? I hope none of your kids ever have this issue. 340
Dude... that is awesome! I mean not awesome that ketchup has such an affect on you but it's a good post. I like how you described it as a great evil in your life. I like ketchup but i agree with you on the smell. It's not the best smelling thing ever.
ReplyDeleteIs it just ketchup or more than one sauce that does this to you? Great descriptions. It's a shame. I'm not one of those people who would put ketchup on tomatoes, but I do like it on a hamburger or corndog.
