“Validation” is a short film directed by Kurt Kuenne. It tells the story of a man and his quest to make the gal at the DMV smile. It is purely amusing. I admit that I am very fond of the movie just because of the actor that plays the lead. TJ Thyne or as I know him Dr. Jack Hodgins on the TV show “Bones” is infectious. The writing in the skit is not all that impressive but the delivery of the lines makes the movie a joy to watch. Vicki Davis who plays the DMV clerk is so believable and acts like she has a heart of stone the way she is able to thwart off Hugh’s attempts to make her smile. The film is shot in black and white which originally I was opposed to but considering the uplifting under tones of the story I believe the black and white shooting added to the charm of the film. The stylists for the film dress Hugh up in the clothes for the part and do his hair to match his moods. It’s cute, can I say cute. For a person that has 15 minutes to spare the film will add quality of life to your day. The film makes you smile and makes you want to be a better person. Not only do I want to be validated I want to be a validator. I can not say enough about the acting the supporting cast was fantastic, the parts were small but their (supporting cast) smiles were huge. The film is just a feel good movie. I will tell you this I watched it at work, when I get home tonight I will have my wife watch it because I love the message that it teaches. Time well spent. (300)
